May 1, 2026 is School Lunch Hero Day—a time to recognize the incredible individuals who work behind the scenes (and often in front of the line!) to make sure our students are nourished, cared for, and ready to learn.

Our food service staff do much more than prepare meals. They greet students with a smile, create a welcoming environment, and serve up consistency and kindness every single day. Their work requires early mornings, long hours, and a deep commitment to the well-being of our children—and it does not go unnoticed.

We are truly grateful for the dedication, patience, and heart our lunch heroes bring to our schools. They play a vital role in supporting not only student health, but also their ability to focus, grow, and succeed.

Anytime you see one of our school lunch heroes, please take a moment to thank them. A kind word or simple gesture can mean so much.

DISTRICT CALENDAR UPDATE
At last night’s school board meeting, the board took time to recognize and show appreciation for the tremendous work of our teachers and staff throughout this school year.
As part of that recognition, the board approved an adjustment to our end-of-year school calendar.
Updated Schedule:
May 21 – No school for students or staff
May 28 – Last day of school for students and teachers (full day)
May 29 – No school for students or staff
This adjustment allows the district to recognize the dedication and hard work our teachers and staff have shown all year while still completing the school year as planned.
We appreciate your flexibility and support as we make this change. Thank you for partnering with us to support our students and schools.

NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK 2025. Balanced nutrition throughout the day contributes to student success in and out of the classroom. The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) offers students fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and fat free or low fat milk with every school lunch. Updated federal nutrition standards also ensure these meals are within age-appropriate calorie levels and limit both unhealthy fats and sodium.

President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom.

NSLW is an annual celebration dedicated to recognizing the vital role that school meals play in nourishing students across the country.

NSLW highlights the hard work and dedication of school nutrition professionals who provide healthy, delicious, and affordable meals every day, ensuring students have the fuel they need to learn and thrive.

NSLW is also a great time to remember that balanced, affordable, and delicious meals are available every day in our cafeterias.
