Record Notice

Fremont County Joint School District 215 intends to destroy temporary special education records for former students who disenrolled from the district during or prior to the 2019–2020 school year and whose records are no longer needed to provide educational services.

Special education records, including eligibility documentation and IEPs, are maintained for at least five years after disenrollment from the district. Medicaid-related records are maintained for at least six years. A permanent record of basic student information may be maintained without time limitation.

Records to be destroyed may include eligibility reports, IEPs, consent forms, prior written notices, evaluation reports, testing protocols, Medicaid billing and service delivery documentation, and related special education records. These records may be needed by the student, parent, or guardian for Social Security benefits, post-secondary services, employment, medical, legal, or other purposes.

A parent/guardian of a student under age 18, or a former student who is 18 or older, may review and/or request copies of the records before they are destroyed. Requests must be received by October 15, 2026, and may be submitted by fax to 208-624-3442, by email to heatherp@sd215.net, or by mail to:

Records will be destroyed no earlier than 45 calendar days from the date of this notice and on or after October 16, 2026. If no request is received by the deadline, the district will proceed with destruction of the temporary special education records identified in this notice.
